If you’ve heard the term API and didn’t really know what is meant, don’t feel bad you’re not the only one. Without going into too many technological terms, we will explain to you that an API is actually a way to link two types of information, usually through code.
The API allows you to contact a third party (free or paid) and extract the relevant information. In other words, it is possible through API development to interface with different systems when we need to access and receive certain information in an orderly manner. For example: if you have an e-commerce store and you want to connect it to an external inventory management system or to a cash register that you have in the branch, etc. then you will need to build an API. It is important to note that not every development requires an API and each case must be examined individually.
